Cher began her singing career in the mid-1960s as part of the duo Sonny and Cher. The duo went on to great success in music, and on television with a hit variety show in the 1970s. During this time, in 1971, Cher released her first album as a solo artist. The album – “Cher” – was a commercial success and the single from the album – “Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves” became a number one hit. It was such a hit that the album was renamed “Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves” to capitalize. Tom Davis spoke to Erick K.about the album. Erick brought in the record and recalled how it mysteriously appeared in his parent’s collection when he was a child.
Their discussion along with the complete album will air Saturday evening at 7 pm on The Inner Groove program.
